The Importance of Digital Standards for the Information Age
Since the post-war economic boom, modern commercial industries have had more than half a century to form and gradually reform the way they do business to attune to the changing needs of producers, consumers and the supply chain. By contrast, digital sales have developed at such a pace that industry has had little time or appetite for normalisation.
Information in the online world is currently presented in a myriad of different formats across multiple platforms and in accordance with in-house criteria rather than industry-wide norms.
In the big data age, the result is a morass of information that is often repeated as a whole or in part across the worldwide web in a way that is seldom interoperable.

Barcode Symbol Verification Services (1D/2D)
When a barcode symbol fails to scan, it leads to what we call a ‘scanning failure’. This ‘scanning failure’ can be solved at the early stages of the printing process, and these mistakes can be rectified before the product is delivered to be sold at retail stores. Therefore, verification has now become an important quality control tool as it helps to ensure the correctness of the number, physical attributes of the barcode symbol such as size, height, location and etc.
What benefits will you have?
- Save Time & Money:
Avoid redesigning, reprinting or recalling your products due to unworkable barcodes
- Better relationship with customers:
Manage retailers’ frustrations by ensuring that your barcodes do not fail to scan
- Trusted Service:
As a GS1 Singapore member, you can rest assured that your barcodes are tested using the ISO-15416 (Automatic identification and data capture techniques for the one-dimension symbol) and ISO-15415 (Automatic identification and data capture techniques for the two-dimension symbol) verification method.
